Annual Report

Thursday July 7th

Dave Carlsson reported a Green Sandpiper, 8 Lapwing and a Black-tailed Godwit this morning.

Friday July 8th

Richard Horton reported 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, 12 Lapwing and 4 Black-tailed Godwit this morning.


Saturday July 9th

Mark Elsoffer reported a Common Sandpiper and 20 Lapwing this morning.

In addition, Carey Lodge reported a Peregrine this morning.

The following juvenile birds were recorded:
- c30 Starlings in a flock with c30 adults.
- a brood of 2 Whitethroat.
- 1 Magpie.
- c14 Jackdaw scattered throughout the Meadow.
- 1 Wood Pigeon.
- 1 Mistle Thrush.
- a brood of 4 Mallards.
- a brood of 3 Coot.
- broods of 2 and 3 Common Tern.
- a brood of 2 Egyptian Goose.

Large numbers of butterflies were on the wing, including Marbled White, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Ringlet, Comma, Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral, Small Skipper, Large Skipper, Brimstone and Common Blue.

Mark also reported an Emperor Dragonfly and a Broad-bodied Chaser on the Silt Pond.

Six volunteers met on site this morning and strimmed, lopped and chopped along the paths through the Woods to enable easier access for our visitors. Well done to all who attended.

Sunday July 10th

Kevin Duncan reported a Common Sandpiper, 3 Green Sandpiper and a Dunlin this evening.


Monday July 11th

No reports.


Tuesday July 12th

Richard Horton reported 2 Green Sandpiper, an Oystercatcher, a Dunlin and 2 Ringed Plover today.


Wednesday July 13th

Paddy Lewin reported a Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, a Dunlin, some Lapwing and a Little Egret this morning.

Thursday July 14th

Carey Lodge reported 2 Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper and 160+ Jackdaw this morning.

The count of 160+ Jackdaw is a new site record count.
