Shelter Funding Appeal

The Tice's Meadow Bird Group have applied for £1,000 funding from the Aviva Community Fund to build a shelter on Horton's Mound.

To win this funding we need as many votes as possible.

Mark Elsoffer reported 6 Snipe, 18 Lapwing, a Little Egret, a Pochard, 62 Wigeon, a Little Grebe, 3 Common Gull, 30 Fieldfare, c250 Wood Pigeon (over), 3 Stonechat, 4 Kestrel, 2 Red Kite, 10 Buzzard and a Sparrowhawk today.


Saturday October 29th

Dave Baker reported a Curlew, 62 Wigeon, 3 Yellow-legged Gull, a Blackcap, 28 Stock Dove and 2 Red Kite this morning.

In addition, Richard Seargent reported a Dunlin (over), 20 Lapwing, 4 Snipe, a Little Grebe, a Pheasant, 12 Skylark, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Siskin, 2 Stonechat, a Treecreeper and a Peregrine this morning.

Treecreeper is the 149th species of bird recorded on site this year. This is only the 6th recorded sighting of Treecreeper on site.

Dave Baker reported a new species for Tice's Meadow: Pleated Inkcap (Parasola plicatilis).

Sunday October 30th

Dave Baker reported 12 Siskin and a Yellowhammer this morning.

In addition, Richard Seargent reported a Golden Plover and 3 Pheasant this morning.

In addition, John Hunt reported a Common Sandpiper, 3 Snipe, a Little Egret, 2 Yellow-legged Gull and a Stonechat this afternoon.

Richard Horton found a dead Little Owl in the stream in Tice's Wood today.

Richard Seargent reported a new species for Tice's Meadow: Dog Sick Slime Mould (Mucilago crustacea).

Monday October 31st

Carey Lodge reported 26 Snipe and a Little Egret this morning.

Carey also reported large numbers of Harlequin Ladybirds, a phenomenon that has been reported countrywide recently as they swarm together and look for shelter from the approaching cold weather.
