All funds raised from the sale of our annual report are channelled back into projects on the nature reserve.

Mike and Jane Clifford reported a Wigeon, a Caspian Gull (2cy) and 2 Buzzard this afternoon.This is only the 7th recorded sighting of Caspian Gull on site, but the 3rd this year.

Thursday October 5th
Mark Elsoffer, Richard Horton, Leonard Winchcombe and Sean Foote took part in a sponsored bird race today at Farlington Marshes with members of the Farnham Weyside Rotary Club. 80 species were recorded and we raised in excess of £700 for the Tice's Meadow Bird Group. Mark Elsoffer reported a Gadwall, a Shoveler, 5 Teal, a Greylag Goose, 4 Egyptian Goose, a Common Gull, 200 Linnet, 5 Meadow Pipit, 4 Raven (1 inside recording area), 190 Jackdaw, 7 Rook, 2 Swallow, 4 House Martin, 2 Kestrel and a Buzzard this afternoon.In addition, Dave Baker reported 20 Lapwing and a Red Kite this morning.
The count of 190 Jackdaw is a new site record count.
The count of 200 Linnet is a new site record count.

Sunday October 8th
John Hunt reported 11 Lapwing, 3 Snipe, a Shoveler, 5 Teal, 20 Wigeon, 50+ Linnet, 30+ Meadow Pipit, 2 Skylark, 4 Reed Bunting, 2 Stonechat, a Grey Wagtail, 2 Skylark, 6 Chiffchaff and a Peregrine this morning.In addition, Richard Horton reported a Redwing and a Merlin this afternoon.
This is the first reported Redwing of the Autumn.
This is only the 8th recorded sighting of Merlin on site, but the 2nd in the past 3 weeks.

Mark Elsoffer reported 32 Lapwing, a Snipe, a Teal, a Greylag Goose, 4 Egyptian Goose, a Stonechat, 24 Meadow Pipit, 3 Skylark, a Buzzard and a Sparrowhawk this morning.In addition, Dave Baker reported a Yellow-legged Gull (juv), 2 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Siskin, 3 Redwing, a Chiffchaff and 2 Kestrel this morning.
10 volunteers gave up their morning to help clear willow from our reed beds. Thank you to everyone who helped out - we can be proud of what we achieved.

Sunday October 15th
Sean Foote reported 6 Hawfinch (over west) and a Water Rail this morning.Hawfinch is a new species for Tice's Meadow - the 192nd species of bird recorded on site and the 138th species recorded in 2017.
Sean Foote lead a walk on site today for 8 members of the RSPB Guildford branch.
