2018 Annual Report

Our 2018 Annual Report is now on sale. £15 for a full colour, glossy, 140 page A4 report. All profits will be spent on our work at Tice's Meadow Nature Reserve.

The report is much more than a list of the birds seen, it includes all of the site's wildlife, and is a record of all the work we did on site in 2018.

You can collect in person from Richard Horton, or we can post it to you (+ £2 p&p). Please message or email us to place an order.

Once we've sold all 60 copies, we will release a free lower-res pdf for all to read.

Leonard Winchcombe: Barn Owl (on a post near the Silt Pond this evening - not one of the pair at the Kiln).

A group of visitors from the Richmond RSPB Local Group enjoyed a walk around site today.

First Wheatear of the year - 81st bird species recorded in 2020.

First Sand Martin of the year - 82nd bird species recorded in 2020. First in Surrey this year.

New species for site: Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) - Dina Burford.

John Hunt: Green Sandpiper, 2 Little Egret, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Stonechat, 25 Fieldfare & Barn Owl (hunting in Meadow, morning & evening).

Jort Brough: 3 Snipe.

Mike Huddie: Blackcap.

First Blackcap of the year - 83rd bird species recorded in 2020.

A massive thanks to the 16 volunteers who terned up this morning to build 4 new tern rafts. Just gravel, anchors & decoys to add before we launch them.

Richard Seargent: 3 Sand Martin & Barn Owl.

Lindsay Patterson: Comma - first of the year.

Black-tailed Godwit last reported 16/07/19. 86th bird species recorded in 2020.

Thursday March 19th

Mark Elsoffer: Green Sandpiper, Snipe, Little Egret, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Little Grebe, Swallow, 40+ Sand Martin, 8 Redwing, 5 Fieldfare, 5 Chiffchaff & 4 Mistle Thrush.

Richard Seargent: Barn Owl - appeared at 17:45 in south west corner of the Meadow. Not one of the Kiln pair.

First Swallow of the year - 87th bird species recorded in 2020.

Colour-ringed Black-headed Gull "29L9" - ringed at Hosehill Lake (Berks) on 08/06/14.

Friday March 20th

Dina Burford: Peacock butterfly - first of the year.

Saturday March 21st

Dave Baker: Great Black-backed Gull (2nd winter), 21 Sand Martin & Goshawk (over mound, heading east, pursued by Crow).
