Mark Elsoffer: Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Dunlin, 32 Lapwing, Snipe, Yellow Wagtail, 3 Stonechat & 60+ Swallow.

Roger Dickey: Sedge Warbler.

John Hunt: 12 Siskin.

Roger Dickey was bird ringing in the Woods and Reed Bed all day today, and the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership rangers were busy working on the new path.

Wednesday 16th September

Mark Elsoffer: Common Sandpiper, 4+ Snipe, 25 Lapwing, Little Egret, 37 Egyptian Goose (new site record count), Sedge Warbler, 2 Stonechat, Yellow Wagtail, Barn Owl, Peregrine & Hobby.

Mark Cutts: Lesser Redpoll

Leonard Winchcombe: 3 Green Sandpiper.

Lesser Redpoll is the 138th bird species recorded on site this year. Last recorded 19/01/19.

Roger Dickey and Mark Cutts were bird ringing in the Woods and Reed Bed all day today, with over 100 birds ringed before lunch.

Thursday 17th September

Mark Elsoffer: 2 Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Golden Plover, Snipe, 18 Lapwing, 30 Egyptian Goose, Litle Grebe, Common Gull, Sedge Warbler, 3 Stonechat, Whinchat, 7+ Yellow Wagtail, 6 Swallow & 2 Peregrine.

Andy Little: GLOSSY IBIS - in the Workings c17:45 to 18:35, before flying high east.

Golden Plover is the 139th bird species recorded on site this year. Last reported 09/10/19.

First site record of Glossy Ibis (7th record for Surrey). 197th bird species recorded on site. 140th bird species record on site this year.

Roger Dickey and Mark Cutts were bird ringing in the Woods and Reed Bed all morning. A huge thank you to the ringing team, including support from Jort Brough, Trevor Birkett & Leonard Winchcombe.

The final tally - 154 birds:
 
13 Blackcap, 11 Blue Tit, 71 Chiffchaff, 8 Dunnock, 15 Great Tit, 1 Greenfinch, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 House Sparrow, 1 Lesser Redpoll, 4 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Reed Bunting, 10 Reed Warbler, 4 Robin, 4 Sedge Warbler, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Swallow, 2 Whitethroat, 1 Willow Warbler, 2 Wren.
 
A Great Tit was caught that had been ringed somewhere else in a nest box (details TBC) and a Blue Tit was caught that was ringed at Tice's as an adult in 2014, so is at least 7 years old!

The Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership rangers finished the new path today. This all weather surfaced path runs from the Estate Entrance to Pegasus Bridge - we hope to extend it to the shelter on Horton's Mound in the future. Great work by the BVCP.
