Volunteer Work Parties
Our volunteer work party schedule for the next few months. Please do come and join us if you're free - a great way to spend a morning, helping nature, working with the local community, and having some fun at the same time.

We had the pleasure of leading a field trip today for 11 A-level students from All Hallows School today. They measured the flow of the river, did soil infiltration tests, & learnt about river & floodplain management.

Thanks to Nathan and Pete from the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership for spending today chipping brash from our recent coppicing. And to Paul and Marianne for helping out. The woodchips will be used to mulch the 800+ trees we planted to rejuvenate the hedgerow in Lisa’s Wood.

A huge thank you to the 14 volunteers who worked hard in the sun today to spread barrow loads of woodchips to mulch the new hedgerows. We spread what we had left on some of the wet spots on the paths nearby. Great to be working with the Surrey Choices Growth Team as always.

Swifts were seen entering the Swift Tower for the first time this year - the fourth successive year they have bred in the tower.
The first Black-headed Gull chicks have hatched on one of the rafts.
We had the great pleasure of hosting a walk for 11 cub scouts from 5th Farnborough this afternoon. It was great to see so many kids with binoculars and hand lenses.

Katie hosted the fantastic Wind in the Willows Beaver colony this evening and my goodness did they blow us away! So polite and well behaved. A credit to your leaders! We completed some nature art and did a name based scavenger hunt of the site.

Thanks to the 17 volunteers who attended our work party today, with the awesome Surrey Choices Growth Team. We strimmed the feeding station & the paths around the mound. And we repaired and upgraded the dead-fence by the stumpery to a superb dead-hedge.

A huge thank you to the 17 volunteers who attended our work party today, including the amazing Surrey Choices Growth Team. We strimmed and cut back the overgrown path to Tice's Wood, the path down Horton's Mound, and around some of the benches. We prepared and moved some logs ready for next Friday's task. We also harvested some willow for a community group in Rushmoor to use, planted some native wildflowers, and checked on the newly planted Elms.
